Tools for faster audio-visual production

 In News & Events

A consortium of European researchers has developed a set of tools for broadcasters, which will significantly accelerate audio-visual media production.

On 23 October 2014, the Celtic-Plus project MediaMap+ presented its innovative media production tools in Champs sur Marne near Paris. The toolset allows a high degree of automation throughout the whole workflow of media production. It makes audio-visual content easily identifiable and available for reuse in future media productions. Videos can now be easily enriched with sematic metadata that allow finding relevant video sequences via a built-in search function.

The MediaMap+ toolset allows assembling the selected sequences through simple drag and drop. The goal of the project was to produce a media programme with much less effort for manipulating and verifying the content of the programme prior to broadcast. Aspects that typically slow down media production are broadcast rights and copyrights. The MediaMap+ production system handles the rights management for used content, thus significantly reducing the related overhead. Another asset of the MediaMap+ system is its ability to interface with standard tools available on the market.

The MediaMap+ project ran from April 2012 to July 2014. The consortium of 6 partners, leg by SGT France also included the French companies Perfect Memory and Radio France and the Belgium companies Limecraft, Radio Television Belge Francophone (RTBF) and Titan.
