Celtic-Plus Event 2018 took place on 24th of May 2018 in Helsinki, Finland

See and hear about the results of Celtic-Plus projects

Results of 13 commercially important Celtic-Plus projects have been presented in the exhibition. The prototypes evolving from these projects allowed the visitors to experience in an interactive and playful way the technological progress made in those projects. The project-teams explained and demonstrated their results to the visitors.

Panel on Business impacts of Celtic-Plus projects

The panel was moderated by Mrs Juana Sanchez from the Spanish funding agency CDTI. The panellists where from: BT (UK), INDRA (Spain), Qosmotec (Germany), Nokia and VTT (both from Finland). Major results and progress have been reported in large spectrum from high Broadband connectivity, Security, Industry 4.0, 5G and enhanced Video Services. The Celtic Framework was seen as the ideal environment to realize close to the market projects including standardization and prototyping.

Witness of the Celtic-Plus Award 

On 24 May 2018, four Celtic-Plus projects were awarded for their outstanding work. Three projects received the Excellence Award (GOLD, CONVINCE and UPSC) and one project received the Celtic-Plus Innovation Award (SIGMONA). The awards were presented to the winners by Celtic-Plus Vice-Chairs Mrs Valerie Blavette from Orange and Mr Riza Durucasugil from Netas and the national public authorities of the coordinating countries: Mr Hannu Nurmi from Business Finland, Mr Michel Rao from the French DGE, Mr Lars Gustafsson from Vinnova Sweden and Mr Tarik Sahin from Tubitak Turkey.

Keynote presentations

Two interesting Keynote presentation were shown the first presented by Mr Leo M Kärkkäinen from Nokia provided insights on how Artificial Intelligence is used for disruptive digitalisation of industry. The second was presented by Mr Mesut Sen from Netaş and provided an interesting view on Internet of Things and implications on Industry 4.0.

What comes after Celtic-Plus?

The Celtic Office Director Mr Peter Herrmann explained the plans towards CELTIC-NEXT. Indeed Celtic-Plus will end at the end of this year. ‘To continue the good work the Celtic-Plus Core Group decided to apply for a follow up cluster CELTIC-NEXT that should start in January 2019. The application for endorsement of CELTIC-NEXT by EUREKA has been filed and the decision will be known at the end of the month of June.
